Blogger v Typepad? No contest: Blogger FTW!

I used Typepad to host my blog for 21+ years starting in 2004 and would've stayed with it forever had they not decided to shut down on September 30, 2025, fifteen days from today.

That's even though I hated Typepad because it was so broken and devastatingly slow: 30 seconds to minutes just to load a page, and repeated failure to upload photos such that sometimes I made 10 or more attempts — each one taking 30 seconds or more — before getting one of any number of FAIL error messages, sometimes forcing me to leave posts unfinished and come back to them hours later to re-attempt photo uploads.

Computer professionals told me these FAILs were the result of Typepad not having sufficient server capacity.

In any event, I thought about moving to another blog host every so often but the huge pain in the butt involved deterred me.

Now I have no choice and after trying a number of other hosts I settled on Blogger because I can actually use it after starting from zero with little pain or frustration.

By far most importantly, it's instantaneous: everything loads and displays instantly, such a profound change from my decades of waiting.

All the others I tried — Ghost, Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, Medium, WordPress, GoDaddy — seemed too technical and complicated and sure to defeat my TechnoDolt©®™pea brain.

Lagniappe: I was able to create a wonderful Blogger favicon:

It doesn't get much better than that.

Allez!
