Originally published in 1947, this wonderful overview of our world and the universe encompassing it thrilled me when I read it as a boy.
Gamow was one of the great minds of the twentieth century and you will find his fingerprints all over then-bleeding edge mid-century physics.
He was involved in a number of projects and investigations that led to Nobel Prizes for others.
Sure, you can buy a recent edition but me — having decided as I write this to reread the book — I'm gonna opt for one that looks like the early edition pictured up top, which cost 50 cents when new.
Hold on a sec... yes, there's one on Amazon in the used books section in acceptable condition for $2.63, that'll do the trick.
But I digressed.
One more thing: buying used books means you have a chance to get one with things tucked between the pages, which always fascinate me.
