I'm about a third of the way through this 1995 spy thriller by Lionel Davidson, having first encountered it about 10-15 years ago.
As is par for the course these days, I can't recall a single thing about the book other than that I thought it was great.
This time around I happened on a review of it by Philip Pullman (in red up top): "The best thriller I've ever read."
That stopped me cold.
I read a few more reviews and then bought it for a second reading.
No way could I enjoy a book more: this one's got everything.
Rather than my usual weeks, this time it'll be days to finish it but oh what fun days!
