BeyondTheMedspeak: Anatomy of a Scab

I've long since lost count of how many times I've fallen on the sidewalk while running or in-line skating.

One thing most of these falls have in common is that impact of the head of my right fibula with concrete results in an abrasion and bleeding.

It's always the right, never the left, because long ago I practiced falling on sidewalks while skating at high speed in order to acquire muscle memory that would reactively turn my forward movement into a practiced roll onto my right upper arm and side.

Up top, the damage from my most recent fall, which occurred six days ago.
